I'm your huckleberry

Maybe this desire isn’t there, and maybe it doesn’t need to be, but forgive me if I wouldn’t mind an American filmmaker standing up and announcing him or herself as the heir to Jacques Rivette or Alain Resnais.
Jeff Reichert's Reverse Shot piece on Quiet City is the most relevant discussion of the place of the "Mumblecore" films in contemporary American cinema.

I have seen precious few of the films in this "movement" but I wholeheartedly endorse Reichert's comment and wish, and spread that wish over all of American cinema in general.
